Cheeseburger Upside Down Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 lb. sliced American cheese
  • 1 can refrigerator biscuits

Directions

Brown hamburger and onion in shortening in a 9 inch skillet. Drain off fat. Add ketchup and salt. Top with cheese. Shape biscuits between fingers into strips and place on top of cheese. Bake at 425 degrees F for 20-25 minutes.

I like this idea without the shortening. Instead, I would use some type of oil, corn, canola, vegetable, peanut, or olive oil, if the beef is really lean.
