How about trying beige or cream color shoe polish, after thoroughly cleaning (as mentioned above). Buff well. Try an unseen spot first to make sure shoe polish doesn't rub off on clothing. Apply and buff- it might work.
It definitely won't peel as paint, but might have to be re-applied from time to time. One last suggestion- ask a shoe repair person.
I dye and repair leather in automobiles and have only a few tips for you. Leather furniture comes in contact with alot more body oils than cars do, therefore you need to thoroughly clean the area with wax and silicone remover to aid in allowing anything to adhere to it.
Some stores sell leather repair kits which have different colored dyes to match your leather. You'll need to test your colors on an area that no one will see (behind, or under, the couch is best). Keep in mind the color will still be off due to the leather you will be dying has been exposed to environmental factors such as sunlight, friction and normal wear and tear than that of your test area.
You could always try the paint, it needs to be a very light coat due to the possibility of peeling. You may have a problem with overspray though. The same goes for dyes also, if you put it on too thick it can also peel.
Good luck - I hope this helped a little!
