Is there any simple, cheap way to get cigarette odor out of a car air conditioner system? I have already tried spraying air deodorizers into the system while it is running.

Use the Vamoose 1808T Tobacco Odor Fabric Spray. It smells strong for about an hour but after that...the odor is permanently gone. This stuff is amazing!! One company that sells it is called Hill Country Distribution in Austin Texas. You can contact them at sales@hillcountrydistribution.com or call them at (512) 784-4024.

In the automotive department of Wal-Mart's is a spray called Ozium. It's not just a deodorizer, but actually absorbs odors. We sprayed it into our car (it took more than a couple of times), but finally no more odor. This stuff works great. It is used by most physician's offices, since it removes odors and doesn't just cover them up. It's kind of expensive, but a little goes a long way, and you can save the rest for your bathroom.
