Applesauce Cookies

They are simple and very moist!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup canned applesauce
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup seedless raisins
  • 1/2 cup nuts (I prefer walnuts)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Directions:

Cream margarine and sugars. Add egg, mixing well.

Add flour, and all dry ingredients alternately with applesauce.

Mix well, then add raisins, nuts and oats. Mix to dough and drop by 1Tbsp. on ungreased cookie sheet at 375 F. for 10-12 minutes.

NOTE: If you like a little tart in your cookies, use Craisins and not regular raisins.

Servings: 3-4 doz
Time:10 Minutes Preparation Time
10-12 Minutes Cooking Time

Tip: Applesauce Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. almond extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cup oatmeal
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 cup pecan pieces and/or 1 cup raisins (optional)

Directions

Cream together butter and sugars. Add almond extract, eggs, vanilla, and applesauce. Mix well. Blend in flour, oatmeal, and baking soda. If desired, add pecan pieces and raisins. drop by teaspoons onto non-stick cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees F for 8-10 minutes. Yield: 3 dozen.

I have looked at both applesauce cookie recipes posted on 10/30/09 and am a little confused. They are both posted by same person but ingredients and amounts are different. Is one a good recipe and the other recipe? Thank you. (b)Editor's Note:(/b) They are two different versions, both are "good" recipes. Robin has hundreds of different recipes that she submits. Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup applesauce, unsweetened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup raisins or nuts

Directions

Mix all of the ingredients together and drop onto cookie sheets. Bake at 325 degrees F for 10 minutes.
