Cheese Bread Recipe

Looking for a recipe I lost. Basically you take a round shaped loaf of fresh bread. Score the top in both directions cutting about 2/3rds of the way through. On top scatter shredded cheese. Wrap in foil and bake until cheese melts. Does anyone have the complete recipe? It seems to me there was something else to put on top or in the bread. I can come up with ideas, but the original recipe was such a hit. Thanks in advance.

This is from an old Taste of Home issue.

Savory Party Bread

1 unsliced round loaf (1 pound) sourdough bread
1 pound Monterey Jack cheese, sliced
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup chopped green onions
2 to 3 teaspoons poppy seeds

Cut bread lengthwise and widthwise without cutting through the bottom crust. Insert cheese between cuts. Combine butter, onions and poppy seeds; drizzle over the bread. Wrap in foil; place on baking sheet. Bake @ 350* for 15 min. Unwrap; bake 10 min longer, till cheese is melted.

This recipe calls for slices but you could adapt it to your likening.

Quick Cheese Bread

1 loaf French of homemade bread
2 Tbsp. Parmesan cheese
1 stick butter, softened
1/4 tsp. pepper or lemon pepper
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. dried basil
1/2 tsp. oregano
3 cups shredded Italian cheese

In a small bowl combine seasonings, Parmesan cheese and butter. Spread on 12-14 pieces of bread, divided cheese evenly on bread, place on a cookie sheet and broil 4-6 inches from flame until cheese is melted and bread is warm.

I don't have the recipe, but it seems to me that bits of pan fried onion would be a nice addition with a sprinkling of dill.
