HELP! My husband is going to kill me! My 2 year old just used red permanent. marker all over our wood stairs. I've tried everything on here; Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, Toothpaste, and bug spray! I used Krud Kutter, it's taking the finish off of the stairs!

Definitely the pink eraser, that was awesome!

I can't believe how well the pink eraser worked on my wooden table. Thanks a lot for such good advice!

I just removed black sharpies marks from my new wood floor with an eraser. It came off with little effort. Thanks!

OK - I can't believe it, but the pink eraser worked! Try it before you break out any household cleaner or alcohol. Once the PINK permanent marker was removed from the table, I used lemon oil furniture cleaner. My table has never looked so good! My husband's life was spared - as he had let our daughter color on a single sheet of paper (on the table) with the permanent marker.

I have used fingernail polish remover on permanent marker marks and it seemed to work for me.

Use Nicole's idea--just a regular pink eraser (you know, those rectangle ones) will usually do the trick. I've gotten permanent marker off a wooden table. Try other erasers if the pink kind doesn't work. Good luck!

Request: Permanent Marker on a Wood Floor

Archived on 12/13/2007

How can I remove magic marker from my unfinished wood floor? I have tried everything from the Magic Eraser to WD40 with no luck. It's blue marker and a big mess and I am desperate before I have to sand down the floor and start over.

Try getting a little bottle of paint thinner at a hobby supply store. Rub it on with a cotton ball and wipe away quickly with a paper towel. This works on permanent Sharpies that we use to personalize Xmas ornaments where I work. (12/29/2006)

Have you tried alcohol? I know that it takes off sticky stuff on mirrors and glass, perhaps it will work on this too.

Good luck! (12/29/2006)

RE: Permanent Marker on a Wood Floor

I read on line to use an eraser. I tried it and it actually took out black sharpie marker off of my hardwood floor. I was skeptical myself until I tried it and to my amazement it actually worked. I would suggest to try it before any paint thinner or spray of any kind. (12/08/2007)
