Nicotine ruins everything. Cleaning the plastic is next to impossible. I know, I smoke.
Yep it can, does, and there is no cure for removing the yellow from plastic.
Don't give up yet. TSP or Tri Sodium Phosphate cleans nicotine off of just about anything. If you buy a box of granuels or a bottle of concentrate, it's worth a try. If that fails, you might want to see about painting the plastics with some paint on or spray, if the item can be taken off.

I smoke and so does my husband also all we have is wood for heat. It may be a little expensive but 409 is great on nicotine. Spray some on your yellowing plastic etc. You can see the nicotine running off.
