The recipe for Whale Stew submitted yesterday brought back fond memories of this hearty stew I made years ago. I haven't made it since because of the callouses I got on my fingers from dicing the elephant.

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium sized elephant
  • onions, peas, and carrots to taste
  • 2 rabbits

Directions:

Take 1 medium sized elephant, well skinned, and cut into bite-sized pieces. Roll in flour and brown in skillet. Two rabbits may be added but they are optional. Add onions, peas, and carrots.

Cook in 450 degree oven for 2 weeks.

If you expect more people, add the 2 rabbits, but most folks don't care for hares in their stew.

I remember a similar recipe in our grade school cookbook. Thanks for sharing!

I really didn't believe you were serious about cooking a whale...LOL

My son said after hearing the whale songs during his trip to Alaska, they
had become a part of his soul. Interesting thought. Cute joke though. Thanks for the chuckles.

I don't know if I have enough jars to can this! Hmmm, each quart jar will hold approximately 2 pounds of food.

Too funny, Copasetic! I wonder if the stew stores well in the freezer after cooking. ;-)
