  • 2 1/2-3 lbs. lean beef stew meat
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. tapioca
  • 1 cup celery (more, if desired)
  • 8 carrots
  • 1 can tomato sauce (regular size)
  • 1 can mushrooms, drained
  • peas, drained (optional)


Dice carrots and celery. Butter casserole. Place all ingredients, except mushrooms, in and mix. Bake at 250 degrees F. for 4 hours, stirring occasionally. Add mushrooms for the last hour, and cover casserole.

  • 2 lbs. stew beef, cubed
  • 1 lg. onion, sliced
  • 1/2 cup carrots, diced
  • 1/2 cup celery, diced
  • 4-5 quartered potatoes
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 4 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. Minute Tapioca
  • 1 cup tomato juice


Put stew beef in bottom of Dutch oven. Add onion, carrots, and celery. On top spread potatoes. Mix sugar, salt and tapioca. Sprinkle on top, then pour tomato juice over all. Cover and bake in 250 F. oven for 5 hours. Do not lift lid!

Super easy stew recipe the whole family will enjoy!


  • 1 1/2 lbs. stew meat
  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled andchunked
  • 6 medium carrots, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup celery, chopped
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 1 cup stewed tomatoes
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. minute tapioca
  • 3 drops Worcestershire sauce


Mix all ingredients in large casserole and bake for 3 hours at 325 degrees F. Do not open oven while baking!

Servings: 6-8
Prep Time: 15-20 Minutes
Cooking Time: 3 Hours

Very good stew. The meat gets very tender.


  • 3 lb. pot roast, cubed (or stew meat)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup celery, cut up
  • 2 cups carrots, chopped
  • Ad

  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 4 medium potatoes, chunked
  • 3 Tbsp. minute tapioca
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • pepper, to taste


Layer pot roast, onion, celery, carrots, and potatoes in roaster. Sprinkle seasoning and tapioca over this. Add tomato soup to this with 1/3 soup can water. Cover the roaster with lid and cook in oven at 250 degrees F for 5 hours. Do not lift lid while cooking! This makes its oven gravy. Do not brown meat before layering in roaster.

Prep Time: 20 Minutes
Cooking Time: 5 Hours

Mix all well. Cover and bake at 250 degrees F for 8 hours.

Mix tomato juice with tapioca. Combine with other ingredients in a casserole with a tight fitting lid. Bake for 3 hours, covered, at 275 degrees F. Mix omit potatoes and serve over rice, if you like.
