I need to remove fabric venetian blinds from brackets to replace pull cord. I can't see any screws. I'm afraid to just pull out (toward me). The blind is very old.

If you need to replace the lift cords, remove the old cord by pulling it over the pulley. Pay attention to how the lift cord was threaded so that you can follow the same pattern with the new cord, then replace the slats and your blinds will be like new again. Good luck.
Mini blinds are easy to install and even easier to take down. All of the work involved in dealing with mini blinds is over with when the blind is actually mounted inside the window. Mini blinds can be removed from the window for cleaning, adjustments and replacements. If you're replacing an existing mini blind, cut the new blinds to the same size as the existing blinds. You may even try using the existing hanging hardware if you can find the same type of mini blinds you already own.
.Difficulty: EasyInstructions.Things You'll Need:
Spackle or joint compound
Step 1 Pull the blind up so it is fully opened. Remove any curtains, cloth valances, or blind valances so they will not be in the way when you remove the blind. Be careful when removing blind valances; they are mounted with plastic clips that can break very easily.
Step 2 Open the retainer clips on the blind-mounting hardware with the assistance of a flat head screwdriver. Use the screwdriver to help pry open stubborn blind clips. Different blind types use different bracket styles, and different bracket styles use different methods of holding the blind in the bracket. Most brackets slide open or lift open.
Step 3 Grip the blind head rail, and pull the blind straight out toward you. When the blind is free of the mounting hardware, lay the blind on the floor out of the way so it will not be trampled.
Step 4 Remove the screws that hold the hardware to the window frame with a drill or screwdriver. The screws will leave holes in the sheet rock that will need to be filled. Fill these holes with a Spackle or drywall compound and a small putty knife. The putty knife does not need to be any larger than 1-1/2-inches wide.
Step 5 Allow the spackle or joint compound to dry, and wipe the excess off of the wall with a damp sponge or cloth rag. Touch up the filled holes with matching wall paint. Good luck.

How do you remove venetian blinds from their brackets for washing?
Vee from Vancouver, BC
I have vinyl blinds and there's a section in the front face of the bracket that will slide out and then the blind can just be lifted out. (04/09/2008)
