I have several oriental rugs that need cleaning. Does anyone know the best way to achieve this?

RE: Cleaning Oriental Rugs
I saw on tv how a company was cleaning oriental rugs. They placed the rug on a tilted slab concrete, hosed it down with a powerful stream, scrubbed it with a beat up old broom and soapy water, did the same with the reverse side, rinsed both sides off, then laid it on a raised lattice to drip off. I don't know what your carpet is made of, nor how large it is, but after seeing this on the tv (some years ago), Dh and I did this with our small oriental carpets. Drip dried them on the patio furniture which has vinyl slats. Worked beautifully. I need to indicate that these are real, not fakes, and this may make a difference. You also need strong arms 'cause the carpets become very heavy when wet.

If you don't want to take the chance of cleaning them yourself. Call up a rug cleaning service and they can be professionally cleaned.
