Now that so many nice faux ponytails, and hair scrunchies and so on are available, you can CUSTOMIZE them and have them better match your hair by highlighting them with colored hair spray or use the hair crayons, streaking mascara-like pens. I match the piece to the dark blonde low lights of my hair color and put in strawberry blond highlights/streaks to better match my own hair. You can also do this with wigs and other synthetic hair pieces.
