Pretend to leave and watch him, when goes to pull the laundry off the couch, make a loud noise and say NO in a loud voice. You may have to do this a few times until he learns it is not acceptable to do this. He might think it is a game otherwise.
It could be that he smells you or family members and instinctively wants to be close to that smell.
Why, because he is a puppy! Pups love to play and have fun. He thinks it is his job to do this kind of stuff. When he is older after usually age 2 he will not be such a little loving
pain. My doggie aged to loves to help me make the bed. He waits til I am done then hops on and tries to unmake it with all is 10 pounds of help. gotta love them furbabys.
Sounds like he needs a little more exercise with you and a little more attention. Dogs need a good 1-2 hours of exercise with us every day. It's more important than training in lots of ways. You could just move the laundry but that wouldn't address the problem and would lead to others.
My first guess is your poochie is playing with you because he knows it will give him attention but I also believe it could be that, even though the sheets are clean, dogs have an incredible sense of smell and might just be smelling you on them still (laundering doesn't mean your scent is not still there and sheets hold more of your scent because they are slept on night after night) and poochies want to be near, touch or play with their loved ones items when the loved ones are not with them at the moment. If it upsets you that he does this maybe you should fold them and put them away instead of leaving them where he has access.
maybe it is the clorox smell in them if your bleaching them , maybe it irrates his smell, not sure just an idea.
Like most dogs he does his tricks because he can. Lock him up somewhere while you fold the laundry
