I wrote this much of a list from the lung Dr's office. Several reasons to STOP SMOKING!

This is what the tobacco companies put in cigarettes to keep people hooked. This is a very scary list.

"Some things added to keep you hooked."

1. Propylene Glycol (De-icer - keeps tobbaco moist)
2. Benzo(a)pyrene - Coal Tar (most potent cancer causer)
3. Arsenic - (poison)
4. Acetone- (like fingernail polish remover)
5. Lead (Heavy Metal)
6. Formaldehyde - (used in enbalming bodys)
7. Benzine - (pesticides- gasoline)
8. Ammonia - (keeps you hooked)
9. Cadmium - (used in batteries and oil paints - damages liver, kidneys and brain)
10. Butane - (fuel as in lighters and stoves)
11. Phenol - (cleaner used to clean labratories)
12. Toluene - (used in paint thinners)

(Why? is what I want to know. Vi )

i am a student doing a report on how bad cigarettes are for you and i have a question how could they put those poisons in cigarettes if they know people are smoking them?

Yuk! I'm telling all my smoking relatives and co-workers about this. Maybe it'll give them an extra push to quit. All those poisons and chemicals! Ew ew ew.

Today is the first day that I have decided to make a change in my life about smoking. I had no idea that those type of ingredients where being used in cigarettes. I pulled a website that showed healthy lungs vs cancer lungs (people who died). Wow! that is how my lungs are looking or soon will be. I give God the glory to know that wisdom it the key and that knowlege is power and how the enemy will trick us to believe that we need cigarettes. Today is the first day that I live. I FEEL FREE!!!!!!!!

I just started using the nicotene patch today. As I was sitting here, wanting to smoke but trying to keep my mind off of it, I ran across this post. Suddenly, I don't want to have a cigarette. Thanks! :)

I was a smoker also years ago but only smoked occasionally, now, not at all and can't stand the smell of it. Remember, nothing good comes from smoking cigarettes. Amen.

I just told my husband about this and he said there is no way that the cigarette companies could put these things into cigarettes or they would be sued to death! It is regulated by the government. In April of 1994, the US Government Dept of Health and Human Services made the tobacco companies submit a list of ingredients in their cigarettes. They came back with 599 approved ingredients, but what they didn't do was test those ingredients by burning them. When you burn these 599 ingredients, they create over 4,000 chemical compounds, many of which are toxic and/or carcinogenic. No matter how you look at it, it is a disgusting habit that will kill you in the end. If you do smoke, please stop now. You can find this information by searching the CDC website for cigarettes and ingredients.

This is great information! Too bad they didn't put the word out years ago. Both of my parents are gone now due to health problems from smoking for 30+ years. They both said they thought it was so cool to smoke, and that no one ever warned them back in the day that it was not good for you. My girls will never smoke after watching their grandparents suffer. It's only a matter of time for people who smoke. People don't believe it till their health goes downhill, but it will go downhill at some point. Maybe this info will help convince them. I am sending it to everyone I know who smokes, which thankfully is something none of us in our household have ever done. Thanks again.
