My son is turning 8 on August 8th and the year 2008 (08/08/08). How cool is that? Is that still called a Golden Birthday?

I had my Golden Birthday when I turned 10 on the 10th day of the 10th month! And the funny thing is next year I'll be turning 25 on the 10th day of the 10th month 2010! Also 10/10 is some type of Chinese Holiday too!

My Grandson was born on 08/08/2000. So he is having a big celebration of his Golden Birthday. I was intrigued to read from Lisa about '00 as the year of the Dragon. With The Olympics opening on Friday, I got him an Olympic Dragon t-shirt and a Rober Sabuda book "The Paper Dragon." I did not know of the connection to 2000. Wow. Also I will point out that 8 is a very treasured Chinese #. Lucky and prosperous date for all the Golden Birthday children.

Cool! I'd never heard of it before! Perhaps a running track party game in the shape of an 8 where the kids attending have to run around would be fun! Mark it off with a sprayable chalk (found in hardware stores) which would highlight the 8 theme and may even be sprayed onto the front lawn as a BIG SIGN of his Golden Birthday! Enjoy!

Kellie, my daughter is also turning 8 yrs old on 8/8/08. She was born at 8:08 pm and because the maternity ward of the hospital I was in was under construction, after the delivery they moved me up to the surgical floor which was the 8th floor into room 800. If you think of any great birthday ideas, let me know!

My son was also born August 8 2008 at 8:28 pm. 8 will always be his lucky number!

Editor's Note: The year must be a mistake because it isn't that date yet.

My daughter was born on the 08/08/00 the year off the dragon. You guessed it she will be 8 on the 08/08/08. Even more coincidental she was born at 04:04am and weighing in at 7lb 7oz. And there's more. I was in ward 33 when she was born and bed 1 room 1. Even her NHS number is a series off double numbers how freaky is that, not sure what to do for her Golden Birthday but it must be a good one and very Lucky for her.

I had my golden birthday on August 15 when I turned 15... a LONG time ago.

I didn't know then that anyone else made a thing out of it. I just thought my family was "old world."

I'm glad to see it's not just us!

Kellie, We always make a big deal on family members "Golden" birthdays. Years ago when my son turned 3 on the 3rd I made golden 3's everywhere. I baked a cake and cut out a three. Then I took the extra pieces and frosted together for extra cake to eat. We do this for all.

For his birthday every year still, I make breakfast pancakes in whatever number he's turning. He truly loves it! For your son...You could make it a "isn't great that "your son" is turning 8" or "turning 8 is great" You could also make a T shirt with a golden 8. And he can use it to sleep in all year. It's an extra special birthday tradition in our families. Enjoy! Happy Golden 8 Birthday to your son! Jennifer CA

You have a special golden birthday for your son. As others have said, it usually goes by the day you were born, me-26 on the 26th of September. I am 66 now, long past that date. Your son has hit the triple jackpot wth being 8 or 8/08/08. Too bad you couldn't find out the odds of that happening and maybe find names of others with that birthday, have a special club for them.

I never heard of it living in New York and New Jersey where I grew up. I married a midwest man and he gave me golden roses for my 23rd birthday because that was my golden birthday. I think it depends on where you live if people recognize it:)
