I just buy whatever is cheap or on sale. Seems to work great for me.
I do also put a cup of vinegar in my wash cycle tho.
I like to think it makes my clothes cleaner and my washer always smells fresh.
I never buy fabric softener. I use plain ole vinegar in the rinse cycle of my washer. Best fabric softener you can buy and cheaper at that. Also helps in getting rid of soap scum in the washer.
