Garden: Clear VHS Cases For Seedlings

When our library decided to get rid of videos in favor of dvds, all the old transparent plastic cases went in the waste bin. This is a cloche made from some that I rescued. Superb for plants and less for landfill!

Sorry, no they can't really be lifted up in one piece, but probably could be glued with suitable stuff. Storing over winter is easier without glue they just fold up in pairs. No reinforcement needed inside. Good luck. Marg.

These cases are not the ones videos are sold in, they are the ones libraries use for making sure you book out when borrowing. Open them to their full extent( a right-angle) then remove the small metal bar from the end. You have six small holes in this end. Get two cases , put the ends with the holes together and sew with garden string. Put as many pairs as you need in place and push the metal bars under the string to link them together. I used clear bubble-wrap taped on to block off the ends. The bed itself is just old wood screwed together. Hope this is clear- it was easier to do than explain. The picture shows one case opened up.

Looks great! Are the cases glued together so they can be lifted up as one piece? Is there reinforcement inside?

Awesome, you're a genius! Can you give us instructions on how you built this from the ground up? Thanks a million!
