I need help throwing a big party for cheap. Any ideas?

Make it a potluck. My friends have big parties all the time, we bring something to share and something to grill. Another friend has an annual soup party, everybody brings either soup or something that goes with soup (bread, dessert).
Or make sloppy joes in a crock pot, buy the buns at the day-old store, make coleslaw, and get a big box of chips. Put chopped onions and peppers in to stretch it (tastes better too.)
