I would love to get a scooter to ride to work but it is too far and the roads are pretty high traffic out in the country where I live. The only way I have found to cut back it to do just that / cut back on my driving. I combine errands and try to make a circle when I do make a trip. I try not to go anywhere during the weekend except for church. My husband and I have cut way back on eating out. It isn't the eating out that costs so much it is the gas we use!!!!

When there was a gasoline shortage in the early 1970s, it was easy to take my bike to work...the job was 10 min. away by car and only about 20-30 min. by bike, depending on the traffic... nowadays town is too far away for peddling and i'm not sure if i could find scooter saddlebags large enough for my current needs -lol. In addition to planning my errands carefully, now more of everything is purchased each trip.

Am seriously considering public transportation for routine errands thus saving my vehicle for weekend trips, like to church, when buses do not run.

Oil companies have reported record profits since the hurricanes ravaged Gulf-side oil businesses...

As a consumer, i'm 'voting' with my pocketbook and making my opinions heard by my voluntary decision to limit gasoline purchases... when enough of us do the same long enough to effect sustained decline of profits, our voices will be heard and heeded... recall how successful we consumers were earlier this year...

For all those who can rely upon alternate transportation, I say 'Bravo'! Let us pray for all who are at the mercy of greedy oil companies...

I try to combine all my trips to town with things that I need to do. Run errands before work, or during lunch hour. Now I have a teenager that's going to be getting his license soon Please pray for me!![lol] Jojo
