Go to Sally's Beauty Supply and buy yourself a box of beauticians' rubber gloves. Put them on before mixing meatloaf ingredients and other foods that are best mixed by hand, and save yourself from very messy hands and food under your fingernails.
Use them also when painting, cleaning (especially toilets), changing soil in houseplants, and many other messy tasks. It's also easier to grasp slippery things with them on. If appropriate, you can wash them with soap and water while they're still on your hands and use them again, or if used for nasty chores, throw them away; they're cheap enough.

I use them all the time. They're also great for preventing things from staining hands - like opening pomegranates.
I use the disposable vinyl version of the gloves for meat prep in the kitchen, for bathroom chores, and for cleaning out the cat litter, but for everything else I wear a pair of reusable rubber gloves.
I don't feel I can wash the disposable gloves well enough to get them really clean enough to move from handling raw chicken to handling raw beef, for example. I buy meats in bulk when on offer and then repackage for the freezer so I do go through several pair of the disposables a month but my family has never been sick from contaminated meat, so I think it works:)
Same thing for cleaning the bathroom toilet, and cat pan. I feel a little guilty about putting something like those gloves in the tip but I'd feel a lot worse if I spread germs all over if I missed a spot on those gloves while trying to wash them!
