I don't know if this would ever happen to you, but it did me.
I have a piece of PVC pipe in my window track with a wooden dowel inside. It's secure but not quite wide enough to not "roll around" especially when my cat Cornelius loved to try and paw at the birds and cats outside.
When this happened, I would think someone was getting in. So tonight, I found a use for the cheap pens I have had cluttering up my office.
By slipping two layers in (one down in the track and the other on top), I "stopped the clatter and fixed the clutter" all in one step.
