My son recently came home with a huge clay stain on his brand new jacket. I am wondering if anyone has any tips that they can share with me, in the safe removal of this stubborn stain? Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

You don't say if this is oil based clay, like play clay or modeling clay. Or if it is ceramic clay like potters use. If it is play clay (oil based), you will need something that takes out an oily stain. First scrape off all you can. Then you could try working Dawn dishwashing liquid into the stain and see if that helps lift the oil. If it doesn't look on the site for greasy stain removal posts, searching under grease in our search box should bring up some other methods.

If it is potter's clay, it should come out with just water. Again, scrape off as much as possible. Then soak it in water and brush at the clay spot until it dissolves, then wash as usual.
