Finger paints! From the book "Kids' Crazy Art Concoctions" (abbreviated instructions): Combine 1/4 cup water with 3/4 cup cold water, cook over low heat, cool, and add food coloring or tempera paint.

Also from the same book, cornstarch dough: Combine 1 cup cornstarch, 2 cups baking soda, and 1-1/4 cups water. Cook over low heat until it looks like mashed potatoes. Cool slightly, knead until smooth on floured surface. You can make all kinds of stuff with it, including beads. It dries very hard, but crumbles if it gets wet, so a sealer of some sort is a must if it might get moist. (bonus tongue twister!)

After you apply polish or wax to your car and it has dried to a haze, sprinkle some cornstarch on your buffing cloth while you are working to rub off the wax. The cornstarch helps remove any polish build up and makes the finish super shiny!
