Chocolate Swirl Ginger Snaps

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • Ad
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 3 Tbsp. powdered cocoa

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Cream together first four ingredients. Sift together flour, soda, salt and spices; NOT COCOA. Stir flour mixture into molasses mixture. Sprinkle cocoa over cookie dough, and stir just enough to swirl chocolate into dough. Roll into 1 inch balls; then roll in sugar. Place on greased cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Bake for 12 minutes.
