Beef in a Loaf
Ingredients:
1 loaf French or Vienna bread
2 cans evaporated milk
1/2 onion, finely chopped
1/2 green pepper, chopped
1 lb. ground beef
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. salt
Directions:
Cut a slice from end of a loaf of bread. Stand the loaf on end on a cookie sheet. Cut out inside, leaving the crust intact, removing as much as possible. Measure 2 cups of the bread, soak in evaporated milk 10 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients and blend well with fork.
Fill bread shell with meat mixture, pack firmly. Bake on cookie sheet in 350 degree F oven for 1 1/2 hours.

I would assume it is uncooked like a meatloaf, else why cook it for 1 and a half hours. Makes sense?

Sounds like a delicious Poor Man's Beef Wellington. Will try it.

I am assuming ground beef already cooked gets packed in, right?
