To reuse old telepone books, take off the front cover and use them like hot pads for keeping hot pans from touching the surface of your counter. The pages are available and they are good for protecting fine crystal when laid in the bottom of your sink. They will even polish the glass to a good shine. Sometimes it will clean without soap! Just add vinegar and you have a no streak shine. The pages are soft enough to be used for wiping the remaining grease out of nonstick frying pans.
