Apple Pudding

An easy dessert.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 cup apples, peeled, cored and cut up
Sauce:
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 Tbsp. flour

Directions:

Cream shortening and sugar together. Add beaten egg and vanilla. Add combined dry ingredients alternately with milk. Place cut up apples in greased baking dish and sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg to taste. Spread batter over apples. Combine sauce ingredients and boil 5 minutes. Pour over batter and bake 30 minutes. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.

Recipe: Ozark Apple Pudding

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/2 cup chopped apples
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

Beat egg and sugar together until smooth, combine flour, baking powder, salt; stir into egg mixture. Add nuts, apples and vanilla. Bake in a greased pie pan in 325 degree F oven for 30 minutes. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.

Recipe: Swiss Apple Pudding

Ingredients

  • 4 large tart apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup water

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Distribute apple slices evenly in lightly greased 2 quart baking dish. In medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves. Add egg; mix until crumbly. Sprinkle flour mixture over apples to cover. Dot with butter; drizzle with water. Bake 30-40 minutes or until apples are tender and topping is golden brown. Serve warm.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped nutmeats (if desired)
  • 4 Tbsp. soft butter or margarine
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 3 peeled, chopped apples

Directions

Sift dry ingredients into mixing bowl. Blend butter and egg together. Stir into dry ingredients and nuts. Then mix in apples. Spread mixture into a greased Pyrex-type pie plate. Bake 25-30 minutes in a 350 degree F oven. Cut into wedges like a pie and serve alone or with whipped cream or ice cream.
