I bought an old chest with particle board back and some on the drawers. The rest is painted wood. It has a bad smell--not sure if it is mildew or what. How can I remove the odor?

You can also try charcoal Briquets. Just put a few in the drawers and wait a few days. I used this method on a Refrigerator Freezer that really reaked and it got the smell right out.

Take some fresh coffee grounds (right from can or bag) and place in a small container. Set one inside every drawer and let sit a few days. I have used this method for deodorizing a wooden 6 ft. by 10 ft by 6 ft high trailer. Have used it to deodorize clothes, bedding, ect. by putting a couple tablespoon fulls of coffee into an envelope and put all inside of a plastic bag.
