Chocolate Bread Pudding With Hard Sauce

Yummy!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 1/4 cup margarine
  • 4 cups coarse bread crumbs (tear slices)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • dash salt
  • dash vanilla
Hard Sauce:
  • 8 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 2 cups confectioner's sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. evaporated milk
  • vanilla

Directions:

Heat the milk, chocolate, and margarine in large sauce pan until melted. Put bread in a large mixing bowl. Pour chocolate mixture over bread, add sugar, eggs, salt, and vanilla, mix well. Pour into greased casserole dish. Place casserole into a pan with 1 inch hot water on rack in 350 degree F oven. Bake 1 hour. Serve warm, topped with hard sauce.

Tip: Chocolate Bread Pudding

Ingredients

  • 1 cup stale bread crumbs
  • 2 cups hot milk
  • 1 oz. chocolate
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/8 tsp. salt

Directions

Soak bread in milk 30 minutes; melt chocolate in saucepan placed over hot water. Add 1/2 the sugar and enough milk taken from bread and milk to make of the consistency to pour. Add to mixture with remaining sugar, eggs slightly beaten, salt, and vanilla. Turn into a buttered dish and bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees F. Serve either hot or cold.
