RE: How Do You Like Your Upside Down Garden?
They must be refilled with fresh dirt every year (expense) and they dry out very quickly, so they must be watered daily, making it difficult to go on a vacation. I've also had less of a harvest than with plants in the ground. On the bright side, having them frees up garden space for other plants, making the same amount of room grow more food. So far, I've only planted tomatoes and bell peppers in them--both with good results. By the way, I use 5 gallon buckets, and you can plant more than one plant in each. I plant one in the center bottom, have two holes on the sides near the bucket bottom, and plant another on the bucket top. Just make sure the support can handle the extra weight.
