I would like to give mystery shopping a try. Does anyone have any links to legitimate sites where I can find assignments in my area? Or any tips to keep in mind?

Thanks!

I shop for Beyond Hello often; I have NEVER had a problem getting paid. For Pearle Vision shops they do not require you to spend hundreds of dollars. They are up front in saying you will be reimbursed for the exam ($45.00) and a shopper's fee ($25.00), no more.

Also, you can find lots of legitimate companies to shop for through http://www.mysteryshop.org/ or http://volition.com/mysteryUSA1.html.

I have been mystery shopping for over three years and have NEVER had to pay a fee or give a company a percentage of my fee. If they charge you -- it's a scam.

Good Luck.

Do NOT use Beyond Hello to get mystery shop work. I did EXACTLY what I was told to do but because the person who helped me during the first part of the Pearl Vision Center vist was actually the doctor and not the associate they decided they weren't going to pay me. They asked me to describe and name each person who helped me and that's exactly what I did but they said it wasn't good enough.

I guess describing what someone looks like and getting their first and last name is not enough for them to pay you the $25.00 shop fee AFTER I spent hundreds of dollars required. Now I'm stuck with the cost of the shop and not paid for the shop. I didn't even need the merchandise!

A mystery shopper is someone who is hired by a company or independent agency to go out and evaluate a store/company (customer service, cleanliness, etc) posing as a customer. Some require you to purchase items, and some just ask you to look interested. You take notes of what you see (but casually) and then fill out a report/questionarre usually provided by the requesting firm. They will reimburse you for any purchases, and have some sort of "hourly" wage. Most m.s. jobs last less than 1/2 hour. And you have to keep on the look out applying (some companies will send you alerts for your area) It is not a way to build income, but it is very important for businesses, fun and can actually pay for things like dinner out, oil changes, lots of things!

Hello,
I used to mystery shop a few years ago. There is a free site at www.volition.com . On there you look under the forum button on the left side of the page. You will then see a list of companies A-Z for mystery shopping. There are loads to sign up with. One company that comes to mind is shopnchek.com, and iccds.com. Also try satisfaction services, second to none, beyond hello. Their websites/contact info are listed on the voliton site.

Best of luck to you!
Cheryl

I tried this in my area and some of the things they wanted me to purchase to try weren't out in my area yet. I also don't think they pay you enough money. They cover the cost of the products but in my opinion it didn't pay me to drive to the stores and find the product. Just my opinion.

Google" mystery shopping," and remember that no legit company asks you for a fee to find work.

Try www.mysteryshopperservices.com they will send you e-mails when jobs are in your area. Also try http://www.mysteryshop.org/ they are the national org and will show everything about starting plus links for area jobs and extra training. Just remember, NEVER PAY to be a shopper...these are independant contractors, just like any other job. YOU WILL LOSE MONEY!
