I want to kill the wild scallions because they are completely taking over my flower beds.

Are these scallions or "ramps"? Ramps are wild onions.

Do you mean wild onions? Around here, in the spring, the Indians pick, chop, and fry them with eggs. They are just about impossible to kill -- you must dig them out (and make sure to get the tiny bulb at the end). Since they multiply, it is extremely hard to get all the bulbs, so they keep growing back. I've had no luck even using Round-up for brush on them repeatedly.

Scallions are green onions. Why would you want to kill them?

try pouring boiling water on them.You may need to do it a couple times.
