When cooking hotdogs on the grill, I open a can of chili then put it straight on the grill. It heats up and makes great chili dogs. Just remember to open before putting on the grill.

Not a good idea, I am sorry to say.

Can's are plastic lined with a plastic that contains a substance called BPA.

BPA can leach out of the plastic in the cans, especially when heated. BPA has been shown to be disruptive to hormonal production.

I would advise against heating any plastic lined cans on any surface.

Check wikipedia for BPA or google BPA, Plastic and/or Health.
