Has anyone tried NutriSystem? A few of my friends swear by it, but it seems expensive, especially if you still have to cook separately for your family. I have ordered some NutriSystem stuff from EBAY to try it out. I do like the idea that it makes it easy to plan meals and the high protein/low glycemic index might really work. I lost 30 pounds last summer from using the Dance Dance Revolution program on our Playstation 2. That was definitely worth the investment. I would still like to lose 5-10 pounds.

I LOVE IT! People are complaining because they were expecting some gourmet food that will taste like home cooking. But if you like soups, granola bars, and pre-packaged meals such as Lean Cuisine and Healthy choice, you'll like Nutrisystem. In fact, I don't even feel like I'm on a diet. It was weird I was sitting here thinking about it and I've been on if for a week yet I don't feel horribly down and depressed like I do with other diets. Try it.

I have been on NS for a little over a week now. Two days ago, I ended up in the ER for kidney problems because of the high protein levels. Yes, it may work, but is it really worth the possibility of having more serious health problems along the way? I have decided to go another route. It doesn't hurt to try, but don't say we didn't warn you.

I was on Jenny Craig and eventually got alittle bored with the food, so I thought I'd give Nutrisystem a try. I'm now on day 2 and I know I can't make it for one more day. The food is terrible. I wasn't expecting a Michelin Star by any stretch of the imagination, but this food almost makes me gag at times. It's going back tomorrow and I'll be calling Jenny again. For those of you toying with the idea of Nutrisystem, do yourself a favour and try Jenny Craig instead. The difference is astounding!

Nutrisystem works. Both me and my mom have done it. The problem for me is that I got really bored with the food and some of it tasted not-so-great. If you can stick to it, you will get results. For me, I need to find a program (well, weight watchers) that will teach me a lifestyle change. If you just do Nutrisystem and then stop and go back to how you were eating, you will gain everything right back. So if you do Nutrisystem, make sure you learn their portion sizes, being that if you discontinue Nutrisystem, you will have learned the right amount of food to eat at least.

I'm kind of amazed at the number of self-proclaimed "picky eaters" who are fat enough to need a diet program. Does your pickiness mean you'll only eat Big Macs and Ding Dongs? Ok, the food isn't great, but it's about as good as pre-packaged food generally is. It is also highly laden with chemicals (like most pre-packaged food) and stuff that makes you feel bloated and full. But if you stick to it, you'll lose weight. Period.
1200 or so calories/day just isn't enough to support a lot of weight. If you're not losing weight, either you already don't weigh very much, or you're cheating. Yes, it's a bit expensive for the quality and portions of food, but you're paying for the convenience. Not only did someone else "shop" for you, but they also prepared your food and made sure it was portioned right and nutritionally balanced. Besides, I used to eat out a lot, and I'm actually saving a ton of money. Of course, you could lose weight by limiting your own portions and calories and prepare much, much better food yourself, but if we could really do that, we wouldn't be fat in the first place.

Nutrisystem has helped me lose the 15 lbs I desperately need to. I cannot tell you how many compliments I have received since I started this. (I didn't realize I was that bad) It can be difficult to stay with but it is not that terrible of a diet. I have a few meals that I really enjoy and some I really hate, so I have learned to adjust each shipment. If you would like to start nutrisystem and want more information and to get $30 off your purchase--e-mail me abehrends AT bradley.edu

Regardless of the bad reviews, diets work if you stick to them and sacrifice. You're fat for a reason! I've been on Nutrisystem for two weeks and have lost 10 pounds. Is the food gourmet? No. Do you have to suck it up for a while? Yes. The food is portioned well and with fruit, yogurt and vegetables, I'm never hungry! The sodium content is less than RDA guidelines and probably alot less than the amount I used to eat. The price is definitely a bargain. I used to go to the supermarket and drop a few hundred twice a month, this is much cheaper.. and more convenient for someone who is single and works.

I've lost 14 pounds with nutrisystem. I LIKE the food. It's easy to do when I'm at work, and I like the taste of the food. I am learning portion sizes, and learning to like veggies and fruits. It is easy and I'm getting results. It is worth it for me. No, if you are expecting gourmet restaurant taste, it's not for you, but be realistic.

I got my nutrisystem package in a big box with tons of prepackaged little small boxed food. The ones that I tried were pure GARBAGE. My dog would not even come near the stuff! Do not waste your money. You are better off cooking home cooked food.

I have been on NS for 5 days now and I've lost 7 lbs. But, the weight loss is due strictly to the fact that the NS meals are SO GROSS that all I have been eating is fruits, veggies and low fat string cheese.
Also, for the price, you shouldn't have to supplement so much of the foods you eat with additional stuff you need to purchase. I spent $100 in groceries to eat with the program. Some foods are edible, but so much is so bad,it is not a good weight loss solution.

The power of advertising can be an incredible thing! Anyone wanting to lose weight can easily be taken in by the commercials broadcast by Nutrisystem. The meals look great, it sounds convenient, good value for money and the celebrity endorsements sound genuine.
I was having knee surgery back in June and figured that the Nutrisystem plan could be a blessing. Being out of action I didn't want to gain weight and also knew I wasn't going to be very mobile, so cooking and shopping was out of the question. Nutrisystem seemed the ideal solution.
I ordered the product back in the beginning of June and figured the $320 or so was pretty decent value for money. It arrived within about four days and my first surprise was how little food there was considering there was five weeks of supplies. My second shock was that none of the food required any refrigeration, which is always a bad sign!
I then read the instructions to find that you actually need to supplement the food with salad, fruit and vegetables. Therefore, my first reason for going on the program was pointless as I now knew I would have to still regularly go shopping for food. The value for money also now seemed to be negated since, as most people will now, salad, fruit and vegetables are not the cheapest items to buy.
As for the actual food itself, I cannot begin to describe my disappointment with every single aspect of this diet. The food is absolutely inedible. The portions are very small. The food is tasteless. I experienced numerous stomach issues. Some items are just ridiculous, such as the burger, or the pizzas. Anyone having done this program will have laughed when they created these culinary masterpieces.
I actually found myself buying extra fruit, vegetables and salad, knowing that I was tending to eat all of these items and little of the actual Nutrisystem meal. I would say that my food bill for this month ended up being 50% higher than my usual bill. I actually only lasted a little over two weeks and threw the remaining food in the trash. I wish I had a dog to be honest, I know most dogs will eat anything!
Towards the end of June I went to the UK to visit with family. While there I received an e-mail to say that my auto delivery was being dispatched on July 2nd. Maybe I just didn't read the small print, but certainly did not realize I had ordered more than one month of this product.
I contacted Nutrisystem to let them know I did not want the second month. They told me to just send the product back and I would get a refund. I explained I was out of the country and could not be there to even accept the delivery. They then said they would cancel the auto shipment and gave me a confirmation number.
I then realized I had been charged for the second month, so contacted customer service. This is when the fun really started and is still going on to this day, about 7 weeks later. Nutrisystem say the shipment was delivered and I have to pay for it. Every answer to any e-mail is just another attempt to delay you in the hope you will eventually just go away. They pass the buck to UPS constantly. If you call, they pass you onto several people just to tell you they will look into things and begin an investigation.
For a company that was at the top of Forbes Magazine's fastest growing companies of 2007, they have the most inept customer service I have ever had the unfortunate misery of having to deal with. It has ended up costing me around $650 for two and a half weeks of inedible, stomach churning food, and I use the term "food" very reluctantly.
I am now experimenting with various frozen diet food varieties from the likes of South Beach, Lean Cuisine and Healthy Choice. Each and every one of these products are well worth the money and are far tastier than any of the meals offered by Nutrisystem. Another benefit is that my plate is always empty after one of these meals. With Nutrisystem my garbage disposal worked over time to get rid of left over food. I could never put the stuff in the trash as the stench would attract animals from miles around.
Having experimented with these meals for three weeks, along with buying health bars for snacks and eating oats for breakfast I have lost 14 pounds.
My conclusion about Nutrisystem is clear. If you are thinking of trying this product, forget it! Save your stomach and bowels the discomfort and just flush a few hundred dollars down the toilet. Instead, eat a good breakfast, try some of the frozen diet meals I suggest above and try snack bars such as Balance bars or EAS products. Also, try whey protein shakes or shakes sold by EAS, such as Myoplex, excellent products!
As for Nutrisystem, thanks very much for taking me for a ride! I hope you can all sleep at night as opposed to the millions of customers trying your products who certainly will not and will at least become better acquainted with their bathrooms!

Well I just started on the program today. I used NS many years ago and was the only time in my life I was actually "skinny" as far as food being terrible. I disagree yes some things are gross., but other meals taste just like the lean cuisines by WW I have eaten in the past. As far as cost; every time I go to the supermarket I drop a small fortune on food that is gone in days. I don't think cost is such a big deal. All I know is I am siked to be back on NS and have faith that this is the way to go, and how nice to not have to really cook!

I believe in that everything is worth a shot. I have just began my journey with Nutrisystem and I plan on keeping everyone updated with it. I'm sorry if these reviews make you think otherwise of the Nutrisystem. I think you should still keep in mind that the people who have stuck with it, are losing weight. All you have to do is keep up the motivation and believe that this will help you lose the weight you want. I would like to lose 40 pounds.
I wish everyone luck in their weight losing.

I am on day two. Last night I almost vomited trying to eat the last two bites of "chicken". Not only did it taste awful but the texture is mushy--yech. Today I can't even smell it. I also bloated badly and the flatus smells awful. Save your money. Eat smaller portions. I know you are desparate, so was I. But being miserable for a month to lose 10 pounds just isn't worth it.

The product works but to put it simply all I enjoyed eating was the granola bars, cereal, and pizza. All the chickens, meats, pastas basically made me wanna gag and I took a bite or two and thats all I ate.

I scanned the messages, but I don't think anyone mentioned SOY. I had a terrible reaction and I thought I had mites on my face which turned red and itched so badly I couldn't ssleep. I also got 2 cancer sores - in general I was going crazy thinking I had some strange disease. It was 15 days before the light went on and I googles soy allergy. I eat soy, but never had a reaction. I read that some is "processed" so it won't cause a reaction. I used an antihistimine and in 2 days I was back to normal in as much as I stopped thinking I had fiber disease and other strange stuff. When you get something like the soy reaction on your face you get almost a paranoia.

hmm.. i've been thinking abot ordering the nutrisystem diet and things seem okay :)
right now they're saying that i'll get three extra weeks free with my 28-day sign up. it seems to be that, from reading the reviews, this program works for some people and also doesnt but hey what does?
i also wanted to be completely sure that i wanted this and that it would be good for my health.. yea, most all the food holds a VERY high bit of sodium.. but there is a solution. when you eat you add a little more water and drain it a little and avoid too much of the sause in the foods because that's where the sadium is mostly located..
of course too much sodium will have your cells a little oversaturated and may cause swelling if you do not take in lots of fluids and/or water.. its normal.. if youre exposed to too much sodium/salt you have chances of bloating and swelling. if you want to avoid that all you have to do is take precautions.. other than that, im reading a lot of variations of weight loss from being 1-2 pounds off in about 7-8 days to 10-11 pounds. the food doesnt sound like a total fiest but you cant exactly expect everything in life to be too perfect.. that wouldnt be right -_-;;;
but nutrisystem seems right for anyone and myself if we know how to stand/enjoy/etc. the food and stay with it. of course you should see your doctor first and have a physical.. and the food might taste bad to some.. but this is a DIET and diets arent sapposed to have everything that the food that made you need to diet has in the first place..
well im going to order..
best of luck to all :)

I read these reviews prior to trying nutrisystem and I have to admit it caused me to delay the ordering as I was skeptical. I thought about it though, and I'm not a picky eater as the military showed me what bad can really be. A coworker swore that nutrisystem was aweful and she even brought in her leftovers.
I ordered it anyway and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE it! Granted, it doesn't compare to a home cooked meal but it is a diet! I found that the new stuff is extremely different then the stuff my coworker gave me, and is much better. Regardless, there are dishes that I LOVE! Portions are small but they allow you to eat a salad, vegetables, fruit, yogurt with the meals. The system is great! I could not lose weight for the life of me, and I don't think people argue about it working or not. Yes, you can count calories and I tried that with caloriecount.about.com and sparkpeople.com. Regardless, I still ended up "cheating " on those sites by overdoing portions or not accurately counting calories. With nutrisystem that is not a problem at all. Weight is literally dropping off.
It just depends on the person. If you're a picky eater, don't try it. If you're a picky eater that thinks you're not a picky eater, don't try it. My best friend wouldn't be able to do it. I love good food and am a pretty good cook but I know what bad is and was raised to eat tons of different things.
You will lose weight on this program. The question is, can you stand the food. If you're reading these posts I'm sure many of them are from the old system or the nourish system. The food is so much better now and the guessing game is out when it comes to portion size. I am really happy and impressed by nutrisystem.

Please, do not waste your money on nutrisystem. The food is horrible. I can't believe for a moment that the people who advertise for them in commercials actually eat it. I am still trying to get rid of it. My dogs (I swear) won't even eat it. It has a very strange flavor, almost like metal or like it's rotten. Please don't waste your time or money.

I was on Nutrisystem a few years ago. I wanted to shed a mere 20 pounds and thought this would be a quick fix. While I was on the program, I did indeed lose the weight. Unfortunately, my digestive system was damaged in the process. In four years, I have gone from 155 to 135 up to 178 with bloating and distention problems. No matter what I eat now, by the end of the day I look like I am 7 months pregnant. Be careful when you go for the quick fix.....it's not always worth it

To begin with, I'm not overweight and always eat healthy, just too much. I went on ns to learn portion control and to lose 8 lbs. I cannot believe that people actually think the food is decent. It is beyond gross. its unbelievable that celebs ate any of this! The pizza is just a little round piece of bread and you add some sauce and sprinkle the cheese on it.. The chicken smells and made me gag, I couldn't finish most of the food. I am sending it back.

I lost weight by going on a juice fast. I drank vegetable juice, apple juice & water everyday drinking at least 6-8 oz cups of water a day & lost 3 pounds the first day & 1 pound everyday after until I reached 5 pounds under where I wanted to be so that when I started eating again I would gain a few pounds but not a lot & stay steady. I also took vitamins everyday. When I started eating I would eat until I was not quite full & it was smaller portions I would eat through the day. I don't eat as much meat & eat more vegetables, fruits & nuts. I mean I do eat pastas, pizza & meat but just smaller portions & not as much. it is really unhealthy to eat a couple large meals a day. Eat small portions all through the day. You will feel better & have more energy. Good luck

After 16 days on the Nutrisystem diet I didn't lost any weight at all and I called a counselor to inquire as to what I might be doing wrong. She informed me, with a straight voice no less, that the problem was that I weighing myself every day! As if my body could somehow tell it was being weighed and then resist losing weight because of it. To say I was flabbergasted would be the epitome of understatement. Imagine, being told that "if you stop weighing yourself you will lose weight". When I pointed out the absurdity of her position she replied: "Well you asked for counseling didn't you". Needless to say I canceled the program!

I've been on NS for about a month now and I've lost about 10-12 lbs. I haven't weighed myself since week two, I've just been doing it by how the clothes fit. Yes, some of the meals are a little gross, to say the least, but if you go to the grocery store and pick up the foods they tell you you can eat then you are easily able to supplement your meals. The sodium content is a little high, but if you eat fresh fruits and veggies and drink tons of water the sodium really isn't that much of an issue.
ALSO, I think it's very important to note that regular exercise helps to counteract the effects of sodium. Most of the time if you are drinking plenty of fluids (like water) and getting a good amount of exercise in, you'll be fine.
Honestly, NS is a great way to JUMP START your weight loss, but it is definitely not meant to be a lifetime diet. If you supplement the NS foods with fresh veggies and fruits and low-fat dairy then it is an AMAZING way to lose weight. I say go for it and don't listen to what everyone else is saying because they're not you. Each person has their own experience and each person diets a certain way. Don't be discouraged by some of the negative comments.
Good luck with your weight loss!

I have been on Nutrisystem for eight weeks and lost 12 pounds total, which to me is slow. Of course, exercise was sporadic.
I loved the food and the program, but will have to cancel it because I noticed a great deal of swelling, which has to do with high sodium content. Just not worth the health risk to me. After six weeks I felt a difference in my clothes. The scale continued to say that I had lost 12 pounds, but my clothes were tighter than before. That's when I realized it was the sodium. Also had major problems with gas, along with constipation.

My wife and I were on Nutrisystem 3 years ago and we stayed on for around 4 months. During that time I lost around 45 pounds and my wife lost a similar amount. We are both foodies and semi-gourmets. While none of the food was a gourmet experience, it was not bad at all for the most part. You have to try a variety of the foods and then find what you like. It is also helpful to read the Nutrisystem forums to find out hints and recipes for the foods. I did not experience any digestive problems during the 4 months. In response to those who claim high sodium, I tracked my sodium consumption during several days of NS and found that I never exceeded the RDA for sodium, so I don't know what folks are eating. I suspect that I eat LESS sodium on NS than in my normal diet. I realize there are chemicals in NS as opposed to the mostly organic diet I usually have, but I figure a few months of chemicals is better for me than a few months of overweight. On the men's plan I was eating 6 times a day.
At any rate, after putting on 10 pounds or so in the last 3 years, my wife and I have gone back on NS again. I hope to lose 40-50 pounds this time and thus get down to my target weight. I have never found the price to be an issue; I spend a lot more for food when I am not on NS then when I am on it. This will give our food buget a break.
Good luck to those who try it. Have some dedication and use the hints and forums on the NS site. See what others are doing. Learn the portion control and then you can go on your own eventually. NS isn't for everyone obviously, but for us it was the ONLY plan that has really worked in any significant way.
If you are on the fence, go to the NS site and read the forums and talk to people who are actually making this work, as opposed to whining about it.

My husband and I ordered on the same night, different computers. In his order he received a free week of food so five weeks worth; my order had a $50 refund for 28 days of food. After a week on the diet, we are ready to send back this TERRIBLE tasting food if we can get even half of our money back. In one week I lost 1 3/4 pounds and my husband lost 3 pounds. Also after one week I was feeling terrible...no energy and ready for bed around 7:00 p.m. every night. It seems like NutriSystem has so much soy products in their food that it was messing up my thyroid levels. Think long and hard about starting this diet and, if you can, try it first before buying the whole month.

I just placed my order for Nutrisystem yesterday, and although I haven't had any of the food yet, I must say that the customer service was great and the online resources seem to be a great motivator for many people. I am excited to start the program, and seeing as I only have 10 pounds to lose, I think that Nutrisystem will be able to help me out.
It seems, from what I can tell, that most if not ALL of the people posting reviews have a minimum of 20-30 lbs. to go. Most people who stick to the diet seem to achieve at least some degree of success, but is there anyone out there who is in the same boat as me, only needing to drop 10 pounds in total? I wonder if Nutrisystem will still give me the same dramatic results, without have as much extra "padding" on me in the first place.

Wine, wine, wine, complain, complain, complain. Some peoples reviews on this site are killing me. What a bunch of babies. Sometimes I cant tell if some of these reviews, where they cry like little babies, are actual people or people who work for other companies that are trying to hurt the NutriSystem name. I read so many bad comments about NutriSystem that I almost didnt give it a try. It is because of this that I feel the need to right an honest, down to earth review about NutriSystem.
Why are people complaining about NutriSystem? Maybe because they are fat and lazy, have about zero motivation, bitch and complain about everything in life so they feel the need to do it to NutriSystem, think that they should be loosing weight an hour after receiving the package, think anything past a snap of the fingers and presto is way to much work for them for the money paid, think that the food's taste should be nothing short of Ruth's Chris Steak house for they money they paid even though a steak there costs $40, or they dont have any will power to follow through with the diet and exercise a little bit to speed up the weight loss process. People who fall victim to these situations and fail the NutriSystem diet become very upset and mad at themselves... but instead of blaming their selves..... They take that anger flip it around and place the blame on NutriSystem to make themselves feel better, that it was not their fault, and it was the product that failed and not them. Well I can tell you that that is complete BS and I think its hilarious how some turn blame onto things just to justify the fact that it wasnt their fault and they werent the ones whom failed.
Ok so my girl and I started NutriSystem exactly 2 weeks ago. Im a male, 27 years old, who started at 203.5lbs and my girl of course a female, 26 years old, started at 163lbs. We paid a total of $570 for five weeks of food, 4 weeks + 1 free week, which is less than the 800.00 a month we spend on groceries anyway. Although we do spend an additional $80 a week on things that the diet tells us we can buy. These foods include lettuce, low fat dressing, fat free yogurt, apple sauce, mushrooms, peppers, broccoli, carrots, diet soda, apples, cantaloupe, cucumbers, eggs, skim milk, and lots of water.
My diet lets me eat 6 times a day which is way too much for me because I used to only eat twice a day. I do eat all six times a day but for breakfast and mid morning snack I dont eat everything that they say I can eat. For example for breakfast they want me to eat one of their breakfast entrees, usually a granola bar, a yogurt, an apple sauce and a slice of wheat bread. Instead I just eat the granola bar. And for mid mourning snack they want me to eat a yogurt and an apple sauce yet I only eat the yogurt. The food is actually not that bad, I dont know what people are talking about when they say it tastes like CHAEMAICALS? Or DOG FOOD? Not sure what they are smoking and I have eaten dog food when I was drunk and playing around and I can tell you that NutriSystem doesnt taste like that. There is nothing that I have to force myself to eat but there are 4 things we didnt like and simply shipped them back to NutriSystem and got new items, these include the oatmeal, chocolate cake mix that cooks in the microwave, peanut butter caramel bar or something like that, and the chicken a la king for lunch was kind of bland. I like eating filet mignon and lobster on a regular basis and the food I thought was pretty damn good and satisfying for my tatses as we sacrificed our favorite foods.
You are hungry for the first few days as you adjust but after that its been a breeze. Its funny because you used to be able to tell when my girl and I were hungry because we would get ancy. What we are learning is that you shouldnt be hungry 45 minutes after you eat, your stomach might be empty as the food goes through you intestines but that doesnt mean your supposed to eat more. It just felt like every time my stomach was empty I had to eat, which is exactly what got me fat. Your mind eventually adjusts to the tune that being hungry at times really doesnt matter and it becomes less of an issue as your stomach stops its nonsense of constantly growling and wanting food. Plus for guys you eat six times a day so if you are hungry you wont be for long, unfortunately for the woman they can only eat 5 times a day. But my girlfriend has not had an issue with this and has the same feelings as me about the diet, which its been nothing short of perfect.
Perfect you say? Well maybe a little exaggerated but in todays world we want it here and now, we hate waiting and are very impatient, and we hate results that are slow. My girl and I could not agree more with this statement. On average a guy is supposed to eat 1500 calories a day on a "safe" diet, on NutriSystem I eat around 1100. Females are supposed to eat on average 1200 calories a day on a "safe" diet; my girl is averaging 900 to 1000 calories on NutriSystem and note.....without hunger pains. And doctors say you should loose no more than a pound a week on a "safe" diet. Yeah right....thats BS and does not comply with what I said at the beginning of this paragraph, that we hate slow results. Along with our diet we exercise 3-4 times a week spending 20 minutes on the elliptical machine doing that fat burner exercise and twice a week we do a 10 minute AB workout to work our waist line.
To date which is only 14 days I weigh 191.5lbs (lost 12 lbs), my girl weighed in at 155lbs (lost 8lbs). Lucky for us guys because we loose weight faster than females. Those are damn good results considering I was very skeptical and like things here and now with fast results, especially since I was a skinny little prick for about 8years weighing in at 150lbs at 6ft. Although the weight loss is way higher than the recommend "safe" amount to loose we both feel great and have lots of energy to burn. Cant wait to see the results at the end of the 5 weeks, I might consider reposting our results.
To the reviews that complain about health problems while on the diet. Well I dont think anyone would recommend a strict diet if your health is deteriorated. So to those who complain about headaches, stomach problems, cholesterol problems, high blood pressure that they say comes from the NutriSystem diet, I feel bad for you. But dont you think that maybe, just maybe, the reason why your health is deteriorated in the first place is because your overweight. Damn you should have started NutriSystem earlier in your life because now youre screwed and have to find the perfect diet to make sure the condition of your health doesnt deteriorate even more and possible result in deadly consequences. I will admit that you do get GAS on this diet, but whats a little fart here and there, as long as the results are fast and we get what we want now and not later.
Feel free to email me all youre disgusted complaints about this "reality check" review, questions, or words of encouragement pertaining to this diet and I will gladly answer you...... audio4u@comcast.net.....thanks and have a great diet.
PS: I highly recommend NutriSystem!!!!!

Let's just say you don't leave the table wanting more. However, the glycemic preparation works. The food stays with you for hours and there was no 3:00 crash. You might try buyng a few things off of ebay to see if it is something you can stomach. I stopped eating it about 1/2 way through my first month. I lost about 7 lb in those two or so weeks. Avoid the tuna.

My husband and I signed up last week hoping to get a jump start on our summer weight loss. Our food arrived quickly and we were excited about starting. Breakfast and morning snacks were great so we were still psyched, until we got to lunch which neither of us could stomach. Afternoon snacks were good and then came dinner. After two gagging bites we both decided we just can't stomach the meals. We both compared the smell to a can of dog food.
We were so let down because i think that if you stick with this program that you can lose weight. But it is jut too expensive to pay all the money for food and then have to supplement additional foods (which they don't tell you the extent of until you read in your book when you get the food). So needless to say we are sending the food back and going back on our tried and true diet :weight watchers. HOWEVER, if you have a stomach of steel and c an eat your food without smelling it then this is for you!

I have been on the program for 3 weeks now and combined with added exercise I have averaged 3-4 lbs lost per week. I happen to think that much of the food is quite good, with the exception of the meals that require you to add hot water and let "simmer" for 8-10 minutes. Those items never seem to get fully done or a little too watery.
The sodium levels can be a bit high but at least I know how much sodium I am getting as opposed to eating a restaurant or fast food meal, and i figure that increased sodium levels for the short term are outweighed by the benefits of weight loss.
I just received my second month of food and with a few exceptions it matched my requests. As to cost, it is true that adding your own groceries to supplement the foods provided can seem to get a bit expensive but when I factor in what I was paying to buy lunch daily in a restaurant on top of my regular grocery bill, I think it is no more expensive and I am getting a much more balanced diet.
I have been taking in 1300-1400 calories per day on the program and because I get to eat 6 times a day I never feel hungry. If you follow the diet, don't cheat and you get some exercise you will lose weight.

I've been on NS for approx. 1 1/2 months now and I have lost a total of 20 lbs. and that's with no exercise. I know that the plans advertised on t.v. are expensive but I got my plan off QVC for $181.31 per month. It's the "Age and Gender plan w/ weekends off." You don't get to chose your meals but I've been extremely satisfied with the foods they've sent me.
I've seen a lot of postings in here of people complaining about the taste of the food and I really cant understand why. The food is really not that bad; the ONLY problem I had was with the chicken breast patty, that was it. The food was not over spiced by any means and I NEVER tasted any sorta chemicals as I've seen some people comment that they have. All I can say is NS is supposed to be a diet, but more so a lifestyle retraining process for those who are really serious about their weight loss and changing their eating habits.
I wasn't expecting exotic or over the top meals -I completely understood there would be some sorta sacrifice; but none the less, over all I'm happy with the plan and strongly suggest looking into what QVC has to offer so you can save a lot of money.

Hello: I placed an order as a trial for 1 week's worth of meals. I started the diet 3 days ago and did so to the T for 2 days in a row. This morning I woke up extremely dizzy and nauseous. I have a 7 month old baby and I was alone in the house. It was horrifying, because I could not carry my baby for fear of dropping him.
Luckily I called his babysitter and she arrived within 30 minutes. At that point I was still very dizzy. I ended up vomiting and afterwards I felt much better. I frankly thought the taste was horrible and whatever preservatives it has in it, totally hurt my digestive system. I had previously been on Jenny Craig and really enjoyed their meals. I thought I'd try your program to save some money, but ended up paying a higher price by getting ill. Stay away from this junk!

This diet is ridiculously expensive once you factor in all the items you have to buy in addition to their meals. The food tastes horrible, and the sodium content is way too high. My husband tried it out over a year ago but left the program after a week because of these reasons. He is STILL getting spammed with letters begging him to come back. My mother did the Nutrisystem diet, too, many years ago, without much success. She also has not done their program in well over three years, and even she still gets letters asking her to come back. Once they have your information, they will not leave you alone.

I started the Nutrisystem program to lose 20 pounds. It's been 1 month and I've lost 10 pounds. I know a lot of people don't like the Nutrisystem foods, but I think they are fantastic as far as diet foods go. Some of the pastas are a bit "canned" tasting, but other foods (the tacos!) are fantastic. I don't have any children, just a husband who whines daily about having to fend for himself, so cooking for others is not a consideration. I like the convenience and portion control - pot roast for one is hard to do! I will probably switch to Lean Cuisine, etc. once I reach my goal, but for now, Nutrisystem is doing it for me. The online calorie counter is addictive - I will probably continue to use it even after I stop eating the food!

Been on this diet for a week now. I'm pretty satisfied with it. Yes, its a diet. No, its not four star restaurant food. That's because its a diet. When you're fat, you sort of have to quit whining since fantastic food is what got us here. I've lost three pounds, I'm not often hungry, and I have more energy. This works. The little food diary that comes with it is a must. Really helps you keep an eye on what you're eating, and has food reference in the back.

I tried it and some of the food was OK. I liked the cinnamon breakfast bars. However, the products are too high in sodium and I'm just not buying into the glycemic index deal. I don't think that's an exact science. I think it is cheaper and healthier- if you want packaged meals- to stock up on Smartones and Lean Cuisines and Healthy Choice, Such products do help boost a diet and get you accustomed to smaller portions. I think you would still need to add extra fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

I started nutrisystem on the 9th of January. I have lost 8 lbs as of the 30th by moderately sticking to the program and definitely adding excercise and lots of water. What I am learning is how to eat smaller portions - by any diet's standards since the food is pre-packaged in the right size. I ordered the food I like and only received a few items that I didn't order. I only plan to stay on it until my wedding day this April. I feel like I have a guide to help me select the right foods and I don't have to deprive myself of any food group like other diets tout. Also I don't have to count foods or buy other branded and pre-packaged foods at a grocery store - which adds up too.
My point is it is all about portion control, exercise and water. This program should only be used as a boost to weight loss. It will take a lot more discipline - and desire to be healthy to maintain the weight.

I have always been a very healthy eater who sought guidance with respect to portion control and balancing protein, fat and carbohydrates. Prior to NS, thoughts of food would consume me at times! In retrospect, I would attribute these thoughts to the fact that I was not eating balanced portions (too small, too large, not enough fat, too many carbs, etc.). Often I'd have too much of one (protein or carbs) and not enough of the other in my diet.
Nutrisystem was an attractive choice for me. I thought this program would help me achieve balance and train my eye to recognize proper portions. As a busy professional, I find the meals to be convenient and satisfying when supplemented with the suggested vegetables/fruits. I'm very satiated after every meal (likely due to the fibre, protien and fat), and find the fruit and dairy servings tie me over until the next meal. This is quite a feat for someone who felt hungry all of the time.
I wonder about those persons who say the food tastes very bad - it makes me curious about what you normally eat on a daily basis. I eat dinner out only about 5 times per year...I'm not a fast-foodie.
I've lost just about 2 pounds in 4 days on the plan. That's not much, I know, but I've been trying to do this for months. I do know this plan is right for me.
Best Regards, No Longer Ravenous in Saskatoon ;-)

I've been on Nutrisystem for 3 weeks now and have lost 10 pounds. You don't even have to eat the food for all three meals if you don't want to, I just eat a sensible meal in its place. I think if you use the food in combination with the weight watchers way of thinking you will be fine. Sometimes i will eat Nutrisystem for breakfast and lunch and if i know I'm going out to eat, I will get something healthy and maybe not have a Nutrisystem dessert or only eat half of one. I'm trying to lose weight for my wedding in May and this seems like something I can stick to until then.
i have an office job and my biggest problem was never having the time or right food for lunch or breakfast and i was too tired to always make chicken breast or some other healthy meal when i got home. this took all the guessing work out of what i should eat.
if i feel hungry between meals i will have a peice of cheese or fruit. i think Nutrisystem does teach you healthy eating because it teaches you can eat the foods you like, but its about portion control.

I am NOT a picky or particular eater, if I was I probably wouldn't have a weight issue :) The Nutrisystem Program I am sure can work for anyone who does not mind eating food items that have the (imagined) taste of sodium enriched roadkill. The kitchen cabinet where the items were stored cannot be opened while someone else is in the kitchen cooking or eating. I would rather cook a meal in a port o potty then open that cabinet.
I am surprised to see the positive reviews for this program.
From the bottom of my heart I wish anyone with the desire to become a healthier person the absolute best of luck.
Best Wishes All.

I tried Nutrisystem 2 weeks ago. One day into it, I broke out in a rash and gained 5 pounds within the next few days. The sodium content is so high, it caused edema for me. I quit the program and went back to my previous weight. Now I am doing Weight Watchers, eating helathier, and I feel great! Nutrisystem is an extremely expensive, salt enriched, program. Not good for people with high blood pressure!

I have an idea. Instead of trying to lose weight based solely on dieting, why don't you exercise? Exercise and sensible eating has always worked for me and my husband. Because once the weight is gone from dieting, you still don't have any muscle tone and as soon as you eat real food, your going to gain all the weight back. Stop relying on dieting to lose weight! EXERCISE and include weights into your regimen!

I know there are some mixed feelings about the diet, but this is the first diet that I have actually enjoyed being on. I am a huge fast food, meat and potatoes girl, so atkins and southbeach were not for me. Most of the food is really good, you just should order what you think you will enjoy and not take too many risks.
I LOVE: - cheese pizza, I add spinach and tomato - rotini with meatballs - macaroni, I add a cup of brocolli - pasta parmesean with brocolli, i add a cup of brocolli - cheesy homestyle potatoes - fudge graham bar - granola bars - cereals, small, so eat fruit with it - spinach and cheese ravioli - soy chips
I am never craving something more, I am always full and find that I cant eat everything I am supposed to in a day. I have a hard time getting over 900 calories because I get full. But, I eat a lot of veggies and some fat free cheese. The one hard part is the no alocohol, but that is how it is with any diet. I would definitley recommend this diet to anyone that usually loves junk food, because you can still eat cheesy pasta and potatoes, chocolate, etc.
Here is a sample day in the life of my diet:
Breakfast: - Blueberry Muffin (NS) - Coffee with Fat Free Cream and Splenda - A few raspberries
Lunch: - Pasta Parmesean with Brocolli (NS) - Steamed Brocolli, mix in with pasta and a little extra reduced fat parmesean - Lots of water
Snack: - Apple or Soy Chips (NS)
Dinner: - Cheese pizza (NS) with steamed spinach and two tomato slices - Asparagus with lemon juice - Tomato (the rest of what I didnt use on pizza)
Dessert: - usually I am too full for dessert, so I usually have a bite or two of one of the chocolate peanut butter bars
**Keep in mind, this is barely 850 calories, so in theory you need to add more fats to this plan, but I am having a hard time

Many people have complain the food taste like dog or cat food (as if they ever taste it) and the portion that small. The food taste good for me beside if the food taste like regular food and the portion is bigger, then there is no used being on the diet. I just started 4 days now so far I still not losing weight yet, but I will try another week because it seem many people have good experience with this diet.

I've tried it, and currently have two cupboards full of food that hasn't been eaten. I just didn't like the food. I find that Weightwatchers is better because on the points system you eat whatever you want, just stay within a points range. Therefore, you don't have to buy a bunch of food, and your family can often eat the same food you're eating. Also, if you know you want to splurge for some special event, you can save up points for it, because you get 35 weekly points on top of your daily points, and you can save them up for one day if you want.
WW teaches you how to eat real food. They also have a separate "core" plan if you don't like the points, under which you can eat certain healthy foods until you are satisfied, for those who don't like counting points. All you pay if you choose the monthly program is about 40 buck a month, and that covers meetings and access to the online site where you can keep track of your points and exercise and find recipes, points values, etc. That beats hundreds per month for Nutrisystem food that I didn't want to eat half of the time.
The only foods I liked of the Nutrisystem offerings were the Italian style foods, as it's tough to mess up tomato sauce. The tuna tasted like cat food, and the thai food was atrocious. Most of the lunches were like cup a soup, where you add water and wait for dehydrated noodles to get soft. The pizza is tiny, the burgers and chicken dehydrated and you add boiling water. I did lose some weight fast on NS because you are eating so few calories, but ultimately, I couldn't eat that food for long, so it was pretty much a waste of time.

I signed up to the vegetarian program. All lunch items had fish oil and fish gelatin. I asked for replacements. three weeks later, the replacements arrived and they all had the fish oil and gelatin (Fish oil in cheese tortellini?). So, I'm on hold for 15 minutes after three different people who have offered to send me "cheese tortellini." One of these folks has emailed me ideas of things to eat that I can buy from the super market. > So I'm stumped.

I lost all of my post-pregnancy weight (over 40 pounds from being pregnant for three yeas, four children later...) with ease and enjoyed the food of NutriSystem. The counselling services were pretty good too but I understand that isn't available any more. Still the food is pre-packaged for a no-brainer diet and I liked many of the food items. Easy and effective - go for it.

I tried nutrisystem for a month and lost 10 pounds, however, it did a number to my digestive track. The food was okay. It wasn't fantastic but it wasn't horrible. I let my doctor know what I was doing and she cautioned me and said it wasn't the right diet for me. It has too much sodium and perservatives in it. While on it my blood pressure rose and this sounds strange but my body odor changed. I have been off the diet for three weeks and I still have bad breath that the food gave me. My doctor said my body needs to detox and the bad taste will also go away. I'm thinking to myself that sure I look great but who wants to come near me now. I'm on an all natural, organic diet and am doing great. I don't know if anyone else expierenced this or not but there it is. Good luck.

Hey everyone,
Nutrisystem is a matter of taste. If you have ever had frozen entrees or a protein bar from your local supermarket, well, that is exatly what you should expect. It is also a matter of convenience & cost. If your're used to dining out every single day, this program will cut you budget in half & ofcourse it is all in the comfort or your own home. Although, I would agree on some things mentioned by other people. If you decide to join, make sure that you clearly specify which foods you like and which foods you dont. Nutrisystem, tends to ship you some items that you did not order!!. Next, keep in mind that all the foods have a high sodium level (salt). Make sure you check with your doctor, before you proceed with this program.
Remember, when it comes down to the nitty gritty, its all about a matter of taste, convenience, and saving money.
Good luck to all,

I must be some kind of jerk because for ME the NS program was about SAVING money. I cut my budget in half by not eating out all the time. Also, everyone is saying the food tastes like cat food, it's funny because my cat actually fought me for the raviolies tonight (I shared). I don't mind the food, I just started today, but the desserts rock. And btw, this program IS cheaper than Weight Watchers. Those dinners are 3-5 bucks a piece and the meetings cost to weigh in. I'm nervous now b/c I can't find an expiration date, someone mentioned that. hmm.

I ordered 4 months of the food starting March 07, i did not have any problems with the costs or the taste (the stuff i didn't like i didn't reorder) they were always easy to deal and in the beginning the pounds were coming off however... i had a physical on Sept 14th, my blood #'s were off the chart, which had not been a problem before, sugar count was wacked to the point of being diagnosed as infant stages of diabetes and triglicerides were about 580 and bad cholesterol was unreadable *** I never had these problems before and had a physical in 06. I am 34 and not in horrible shape 6.1 250lbs just wanted to eat better save $ and lose weight without exercise. SCARY TO THINK WHAT MAY HAVE HAPPENED HAD I NOT HAD A PHYSICAL! * VERY HIGH SODIUM COUNTS BE CAREFUL! Needless to say I have discontinued the program and have to take crestor to reduce my #'s 12-3 is follow up blood work , if #'s are back to normal I will most definitely blame nutrisystem.

The food is awful. Save your money and just buy Weight Watchers or Lean Cuisine at the grocery store. It is much better and has a better nutritional balance. I wish I had listened to the naysayers before I wasted my money.
Also, beware--Nutrisystem substitutes in your order so much, you get very little of what you actually chose.

I personally have not tried NutriSystem, but a friend of mine has lost 20 lbs in approx. three weeks on it. I have also heard that the food tastes awful, but if you can stomach it, it's worth it. I would highly recommend the Healthy Choice frozen dinners that you can buy in the supermarket. I have not had one that I didn't like. They come in all different sizes, so you could eat them for any meal. My husband and I's fave is the Roasted Turkey...yum!

I just began the NS vegetarian plan, I started out by trying the 2 week food plan from QVC. I actually enjoyed all of the food except for the ravioli. I was impressed by the high protein content, the taste, and the wholesome ingredients. I just ordered the full delivery package and am excited to get serious.
I have never been full in my life, and can eat tons of pasta! Lately, I can hardly finish the "small" NS portions! A nice salad and the meal is surprisingly filling. Hope I lose weight!

I've tried nutrisystem and it tastes horrible. I would recommend anyone to try jenny craig. Their food is really good and they teach you to eat in the right proportions instead of eating less. I've lost 40lbs and learned how to eat right and still eat good.

Just got the plan 2 days ago. I haven't eaten anything I would consider good tasting yet! I think the entire plan is based on not eating and that's how you lose the weight. You end up throwing half the meal away cause you cant finish it, due to its horrible taste! I paid a lot so I plan of sticking it out for a few more days, however this is not the plan for me:(

Honestly, i think people complain way too much! I love nutrisystem. I mean come on, you want to have absolutely delicious food, you want it to be cheap, oh and of course convenient. MCDONALDS will do that for u. But no, you want to loose weight too! It just ain't happening. If you want too loose weight you have to sacrifice! I am 70 pounds over weight and if i can admit that anyone can. Nutrisystem is a great way to get on track. Its not a permanent solution, but it is a GOOD START.

The size two emphasis has me concerned. Very few women have the bone structure to be a size two. Many women would be thrilled - and healthiest - at size 12. No wonder so many women get anorexic.

michawnpita is absolutely right - in fact, the new NutriSystem commercial with the "size TWO" makes a big deal about how she went up to a size 12 (OMG, did the ground shake when she walked??) after her baby and is now back to a size two - "Nutrisystem rescued me again". Duh. Nutrisystem doesn't teach you healthy eating habits - they WANT you to gain weight every time you stop buying their food so you'll come back and buy more.

I'll tell you what, I love it! I have been on it for a week(plus one day) and can honestly tell you it's exactly what I have been looking for.
Anyone who isnt full after a meal from NS, really should attempt to talk to someone because after eating 5 or 6 different types of food per meal, I really feel fulfilled.
It's perfect for me because my main problem was portioning out food. NS does it for me. I chose my own food instead of letting NS pick and so far the foods that have been really good are the cheese tortillini, pizza, ham, oatmeal cookie, granola bars, grilled chicken... those are some off the top of my head.
The only food I have regretted buying is the scrambled eggs, not very good. The cereal is fine, same goes for the choc. drink. That is pretty much all I have had in 8 days.(maybe forgetting a few things)
As for buying additional food, this is the stuff that a normal person should have on their shelves in the first place if they want to live a healthy life so I dont see whats the big deal about having stuff like Peanut Butter, Bread, Salad, Fruits, Spinach, Cheese etc.
And the time is the best part, another perk for a lazy college student like me. It's a little pricy, but consider this.... I have followed the diet for 8 days and am working out daily and I have about 400 percent more energy and have dropped 11 of the 25 pounds I hope to lose already.
I'm serious, this could be exactly what you are looking for if you have some cash to spend.

Larry Haigh is a shill for another company. He's left the same bogus review on other sites. The give away is the way he spells disgusting 'discusting'
Anyway. I'm on nutrisystem right now ( 8 days ). The food is not horrible. It's not excellent either. You can taste the preservatives at times. There's 3 really nice things about the program for busy people like myself
1) The menu is pretty much set so there's no thinking and no eating out. 2) I've learned a lesson in portion control. I had no idea I was eating so much food. 3) It forces you to eat your fruits and veggies. Which is always good.
I wanted to lose 20 pounds. I've knocked off 4 so far. I'm guessing I'll hit my target weight in 2 cycles of nutrisystem foods. ( 2 months ). Once completed it won't be difficult to duplicate this with my own food.
I give the program 8 out of 10. It's effective and very easy.
Best Regards, Andrew Ontario, Canada

The entire system is based on misleading information, they never tell you that most of the eatable diet comes from your refrigerator. The meals they sent me are like cat food and mostly are discusting.
