My birthday is in a week and 4 days. I'm a tomboy, so there might be a mix of boys and girls there. Should I go to the skating rink and then to see a movie, have a house party, or go out to eat (boring)?

How about a Scavenger Hunt? Hide multiples of inexpensive (go to a party store or $1 store for ideas) different items, make different lists of the various items and your friends have to search (if you have a yard or at a park) for the items? It's active and so the guests won't just stand there with their friends. The one with the most items wins some token award or prize. It's fun and interactive with everyone!
Or what about a Birthday Costume Party where friends dress up like their favorite whatever... sports star, celebrity, book character, painting, etc? Costumes let folks ''be someone else" and can be fun. Everyone takes turns guessing who they are and the winner gets some small token prize or award. Or you can award 'prizes' for funniest, most original, best of show, etc.
