Blood in My Puppy''s Poo?

I have a 13 week old black Lab girl, and she has been perfect. However for the first time, she's had very runny poo, almost diarrhea, but it also has bright red blood in it. She kept trying to poo, but was only dripping out little bits of poo with blood. After, she tried to scrape her bum across the ground and wash herself. To me it sounds like worms, however, she is fully up to date with all her worming tablets. Any help and ideas would be great :)

PS the vet's are closed till 8am tomorrow, and I intend on taking her down first thing in the morning.

It could be anything but definitely the vet first thing tomorrow. She is probably dehydrated so give her some water and allow her to rest.

Blood in stool is not normal. A visit to the vet is in order.

I hope you were able to get her in quickly and that you have answers. Sending up healing wishes!

Once you get this situation under control, my advice is to talk to your vet about their protocols for emergency situations...so you can have a plan...like is there an on call number you can call or an emergency hospital nearby you may not know about. Our vet has very clear instructions they give us for emergency protocols...and the place even gets the dogs records to the regular vet the same day.

I would also ask if you can give your dog food or water during an emergency situation...most times the answer is NO...as it can cause all kinds of other issues. They can give you some scenarios and safe solutions and best ways to keep the pup comfortable until you can get help.

Let us know what the vet says!

I would be very suspicious of parvo. Hopefully she has had her parvo shots and you wont have to worry. See your Vet as soon as possible. If it is parvo, she will need support and meds from your Vet. It is a tough disease, but 75% of dogs survive with Veterinary care.
