Cardboard Tube Gift Box

Supplies:

• cardboard tube from toilet paper or kitchen towels
• wrapping papers scraps
• scissors
• glue
• paintbrush, optional
• clothespin, optional
• ribbon

Steps:

1. Trim your wrapping paper so it's just big enough to cover the cardboard tube.

 
2. Add very thin drops of glue (or brush on) onto tube and apply gift wrap.

 
3. After glue has dried, take one end of the tube, apply glue inside, then seal shut. Secure by holding it shut or using a clothespin. Let dry.

4. To make it a bit fancier, affix a scrap of contrasting gift wrapping paper over the first. Insert gift into finished cardboard tube then glue shut. Tie with ribbon.

For Christmas we give our adult children money...for a creative idea to "wrap" the money, I made a Christmas cracker out of an empty toilet tissue roll; I placed the rolled up money in the toilet tissue, bent the edges together that resembled a "u" at each end...I then wrapped the package in Christmas tissue paper, tied a curly ribbon at each end, wrote the names on the "Christmas money cracker". I displayed the "crackers" in a Christmas basket under the Christmas tree. The adult children thought it was a very creative presentation of a money gift.

Christmas crackers are a great idea to make yourself because they're so expensive! Here in Los Angeles, at least! Well done.
