Converting a Drawer Unit Into a Footstool

Converting a Drawer Unit Into a Footstool - in serviceI recently gave a very large desk to a gal just across the road from me. I had used it less and less over the last year, so it was time.

With the mini wicker drawer unit that sat on top of it now needing a home, it occured to me I needed a foot stool. What a perfect little project this turned out to be!

Steps:

  1. I emptied the little drawers of the stuff I had in them, and replaced them with glass nuggets, marbles, faux gems (for weight), and yarn.
  2. Converting a Drawer Unit Into a Footstool - drawer containing beads, etc.

  3. I could have stopped there, but decided I didn't want the legs to possibly scratch the floor. So I made them little booties.

  5. They are super simple to make. Just chain 4, and make 3 single crochets across to the end, chain 1 and make 3 back to the beginning for a second row. Then, chain 1 and make a single crochet in each of the two end stitches, the 4 across, the 2 opposite end stitches, and the 4 across the other side. You are basically making a single crochet around 12 and slip stitching to join. Do not increase. If your work flares some, make 11 around. Repeat that for 3 more rows.

  7. NOTE: The legs of your furniture might not be the same shape as mine. Create accordingly.

  9. I found one of my old cool rugs and just folded it in half. But I knew I would be picking it up too many times. So I made it snug by turning it inside out and tying it in a mitered style. I used yarn and a darning needle, securing it so it would not slip off. Then I turned it right side out and it worked pretty good. With the booties on and the stuff inside, I felt it was worth the time to repurpose this little gem. N-JOY!!
