Determining the Authenticity of a Thomas Kinkade Print?

I recently purchased a Thomas Kinkade print, 12x13 with a gold metal frame. It is a limited edition, sold out print. Is it real?

There are a lot of real looking knockoffs out there. Your best bet would be to go to a dealer and see.

Contact the kincaide website:

They have a whole section on their site about authentication!

Let me know what you find!

All Thomas Kinkade are identified by the name first and then by material such as canvas, brushworks, prints and more.

  • Usually the most valuable are the canvas and then other styles but the prints (especially in small sizes) are usually the least valuable.

  • Most of the Kinkade paintings in any material are limited editions and usually marked as "sold out". But almost all of these (especially prints) can be found in many art stores and auction/sale sites at very reasonable prices.
  • Many of these can still be found for sale on the Kinkade website.
  • I do not know how you are measuring your print but there is no 12 x 13 size listed under any of their paintings.
  • You ask about authentication but very truthfully, the small (even framed in "gold") prints are not that valuable that it would be very profitable to make "fake" ones.
  • I think you need to check the paintings that are listed for sale so you will have a better idea of the true value of these paintings.
  • There are many Kinkade paintings for sale at the Kinkade studios as well as authorized Kinkade stores that many people will buy "new" unless they are getting a real bargain.

  • You might check the Kinkade website or the Kinkade art stores for your painting so you can perhaps see a true value and perhaps check to see if the frame is the same as yours. That is the only way to find the true value and decide if it is "real".

  • You can also check eBay for sold listings to see if your print has sold in recent months. I cannot research very much as you do not give the name of your painting.

Here is a good example of the Kinkade paintings that are available by just searching Google.
