Dishwasher Not Draining Water

I have a GE Profile Performance dishwasher, Model # GSD4920Z04BB. The water will not drain. How can I avoid a service call? I'd like to try this on my own. Thank you.

I only had to clean the overflow valve. That's the knob like thing with the slots, usually next to the faucets. Usually, the top cover just pulls off and there is a plastic piece which should screw off with pliers or a wrench. Clean that part, replace, clean the cover, pop back on and you are good to go.
