Here is a link to the inside of the stereo unit. Here you can see that the stereo has different tubes that make the stereo work. picclick.com/PARTS-Vintage-Stereo-Console-Turntable.... it is easy to see when one of the tubes goes bad in the unit because the turn turns very dark on the top and around the sides. You can also take out the tubes and look at the wires inside the tube to make sure they are still connected much like a light bulb. If you have some issues with the stereo it is best to remove each tube one at a time and check the condition of the tubes.

Your question seems very general so I'm wondering;
Are you just curious?
Thinking of buying?
Own this/one but not working?
Most of the older consoles use tubes and each tube usually will cost over $40 to replace.
If unit is not working you can check tubes as a bad tube will usually be black but tubes can be loose or bad wiring can also cause tube problems.
There are several companies that sell tubes/parts for GE stereos but this one seems to have a very good reputation and their site offers a lot of different information.

You can contact them about problems but their business is to sell you parts not offer instructions on how to repair.
Tubes usually have a name/number (not GE) so that is what you have to go by if ordering tubes.

Here is a link to GE. They may be able to anser questions about this unit such as year made etc.

Here is one of many places in the US that still repair and refurbish the old consoles.

I would think they would be able to tell you what you need to know and get you what you need.

I am not affiliated. Just love old stuff and finding good sources for when it needs fixed or I have questions:
