Durable Sewing Patterns

If your going to use a sewing pattern more than once (that's why we buy them) iron on interfacing/fusible web and you will be sure not to tear the pattern pieces when pinning and cutting out fabric. However, you will not be able to fold the pattern to fit back into the envelope (can you ever get it back in anyway?) I get the fusible web by the bolt when its on sale.

Great idea! I am going to try this. How much do you usually pay for the interfacing on sale? (09/11/2006)

This is a great idea if you need to alter the pattern to fit your body style too. I'm short waisted, so all patterns have to come up to fit. (05/30/2007)

To solve the problem of storing the pattern that no longer fits in the original envelope: Separate the front and back of that original envelope, and tape the pieces to the front and back of a 9x12 inch manila envelope. Store them in a file cabinet if you have one, If not, find a box or an old milk crate to store them in.
