Feeding a Puppy Recovering from Parvo?

My 5 month old, 25lb puppy has parvo. She received her parvo antibiotic shots yesterday plus I'm giving her antibiotics every 12 hours. She has not vomited since yesterday morning. Is it OK to feed her kibble? She started showing symptoms two days ago. She is constipated and hasn't pooped in 2 days. But she is fully alert and pretty energetic today. She can drink water on her own. I didn't feed her for 24 hours. I have only been giving her Gatorade every two hours. She ate 1.5 cups of kibble today is that safe?

The vet should have given you a diet plan for her to follow. If she is constipated, that can cause further troubles so make sure she gets plenty of fluids to help off set it.

It's day 3 and she still hasn't pooped. The vet told me it was normal because she hasn't eaten much so it will take a while for her stools to develop. Doctors says to finish giving her the antibiotics and she will be perfectly fine.

Apparently mixed breeds have a better immune system and she beat the heck out of that parvo! She's playful and doing okay :)

If a dog hasnt had diarrhea or vomiting for 24 hours it can start eating solid food

Since I did feed her about a third of what she normally eats I believe it didn't affect her badly. But after the vet visit she told me that her tummy is very sensetive so instead I have to give her soft foods until a week has passed.

If you must feed her kibble poor some warm water to soften it. Future reference for anyone dealing with the same situation. I made some chicken broth for her, no seasonings or salt and as bland as possible and she loved it.

I would stick with hamburger and rice. Make sure you drain the grease off the hamburger. Do this for about 3 more days.

Thank you, the homemade soup I made helped really well. I served her wet kibble yesterday and since she didn't vomit or have diarreah she can eat even more now.

So it went from 2/3rds of a cup to one cup today. And even more tomorrow, slowly for a week.
