Felt Heart Bookmark - bookmark on corner of book pagesThis is a good little project for kids and adults alike. They take minimal sewing and embroidery skills. They are so fun to make and would be nice gifts. :) Did I mention they are nearly free?

Supplies:

Felt Heart Bookmark - supplies
 

Steps:

  1. Here is an outline of a heart; perhaps you can print this.
  2. Felt Heart Bookmark - template
     
  3. Cut 2 hearts from the corner of the felt.
  4. Felt Heart Bookmark - placing the template against the felt
     
  5. See?
  6. Felt Heart Bookmark - two felt hearts
     
  7. Thread a length of floss, knotting the end to secure it inside your work.
  8. Felt Heart Bookmark - two felt hearts and thread

  9. Put your hearts together. Begin making simple running stitches very close to the edge of your hearts. Be sure you are going through both layers.

  13. Now using the same thread, make a French knot and daisy stitches for a flower.
  14. Felt Heart Bookmark - completed heart
     
  15. You could also embroider "I love you" or "#1 Teacher", the possibilities are endless.
  16. Make a simple overhand knot close to your work a few times and hide your trimmed end on the inside of your bookmark. Enjoy!

These are so cute! I think I would sew the design on one heart and then sew them together. Can't wait to try one!
