Finding Roof Repair Help for Senior Citizens?

I need help with roof repairs, I have some materials, like 18 packs of shingles. Habitat for Humanity only helps veterans. When I call, here in the state of Georgia, they are not helping senior citizens with home repairs. They say the program ran out of funds.

You do not say if you are on a limited budget but sometimes free help gets scarce at this time of year as many government agencies have used all their resources and cannot help anyone until their new budget is approved. Sometimes this is late in October or could be November and some do not have a new budget until January.

  • If you do not find help be sure to keep checking with your local Habitat and try to find out when their funds will be available.
  • Your area may be hard pressed for repairs so you may have to keep checking back with some agencies until they have available funds.
  • You only say "senior" and do not say if you are on a limited budget or if you are disabled so you may find that some funds are held back for more serious cases.
  • Try checking with the Senior Services in your area (they go under different names so search around with your zip code) as they can many times help seniors find needed services and many times faster than going through all the steps required for free government help.
  • You may have to wait until next year as even private firms that help out are low at this time of year.
  • Try visiting your church pastor or any church near you and ask for help with repairs as you do have some of the materials.

  • I do not know if you are anywhere close to Atlanta but that city has a lot of agencies and lots of places to contact for help.
  • Try Google with your zip code and ask for senior help with roof repairs. You may find a list of agencies to contact. it will take a lot of time completing forms but that is the only way it might happen for you.
  • Here are some web sites to check out.
