Geum in Bloom

I had never heard of this beautiful flower before last year. A dear friend of mine recommended it for along my picket fence when we were at a garden nursery together. These pictures ware taken on May 4th. It is done blooming now. The small delicate orange flowers look good even after all the petals have fallen off.

It is a perennial and is part of the rose family. I think this variety might be "Geum coccineum", also known as dwarf orange avens. There are hundreds of different varieties.
