Handy Mix of Nuts, Dried Fruits, and Spices

Multiple use mixture for baking, stores well, and always ready.

Ingredients:

  • large handful of nut pieces, walnuts or pecans
  • small handful of diced dates, prunes, dried apricots
  • Advertisement

  • small handful of raisins, dried cranberries, blueberries
  • 2 Tbsp. cinnamon (or more if you really like it)
  • 1 tsp. ginger, allspice, nutmeg, coriander, or mace ( whatever you prefer)
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar or a dollop of honey (optional)

Directions:

Mix together well and keep refrigerated in covered container.

Sprinkle on top of oatmeal, put inside acorn squash, or fill center of baked apples.

If you add water to the mix and cook in the microwave for a short time the dried fruit gets rehydrated and is good that way.
I live in a dry climate so add 3/4 cup water to 3-4 cups fruit mix, and zap for 2 minutes.

Cover and refrigerate. Keeps for several weeks.
