I would use a horse theme, with plenty of lucky horseshoes
Step 1
Put your team name on the side of your float Chargers.
Step 2
Have a few cheer leaders on the float dressed in school colours.
Step 3
If the game is football do a big foot ball with paper mache or look on pin interest on how to do it.
Step 4
On the other side of your float do letters sink em.
