I just posted a tip about doing this in a window so I am just going to share this one. They are almost identical. I have an entry hallway and often put things in there that I want to put in the 'donation station' in our clubhouse.
When things get a bit cluttered, they fall over, or I kick them or what have you. Recently I got some flooring planks for free. I am an avid jar keeper so I put them both to good use.
If you do this, weigh down the jars with rocks, marbles, water, sand, litter, or anything that will keep the shelving stable. I used glass nuggets and some "3 drops water coloring". You could even paint yours, yarn or fabric bomb it, or leave it clear.
NOTE: I will make at least one more shelf when I get more jars. For now this works.
