How to Make a Paper Doily Envelope

Supplies:

• 1 paper doily
• embroidery floss
• scissors
• 1 button
• pen and paper

Steps:

1. Fold in the sides of the doily, not quite to the centre.

 
2. Fold the bottom section up. Crease all three folds well.

 
3. Cut a piece of paper to fit and write your message.

 

 
4. Cut a length of floss long enough to tie a bow. Thread it through the holes of the bottom flap.

5. Fold the top flap down and crease it well. Thread the floss through again.

 

 
6. Now thread the ends through the button.

 
7. Tie the ends in a bow to secure and seal the envelope and trim them short.

I have never heard of such. It is cute. It is quaint. It is perhaps a bit Victorian. And you're right, it's downright pretty!
